The women here are going to be taking the front seat for the tech giants this year.
IT giants Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Wipro, HCL Technologies, and Infosys are getting to hire around 60,000 women candidates this year through campus placements.
The companies will hire women candidates for entry-level roles with an aim to market gender diversity.
The Indian IT industry is certainly ahead on the difficulty of respecting diversity and goes much beyond lip-service or tokenism. Diversity policies focus not only on granting certain entitlements but also on creating support systems that cause a level-playing field.
The technology industry in India currently features a gender diversity ratio of 33%, result of significant industry interventions over the years, consistent with industry body Nasscom.
TCS is probably going to rent 38 to 45 percent women employees through the campus placements because it has been for the past three years. At present, the corporate has 1.85 lakh female employees and plans to rent 15,000-18,000 more for entry-level roles.
HCL plans to hire 22,000 candidates out of which 60 percent will be women.
Out of the entire workforce, Infosys is getting to hire 45 percent female candidates and train nearly 35,000 college graduates.
Wipro plans to rent 30,000 candidates through campus placement this year, 50 percent of whom are likely to be women. “The gender diversity among campus hires has been increasing consistently once a year,” Wipro Chief Human Resources officer told the Economic Times.
The company is going to be recruiting 30,000 freshers from campuses, of whom 22,000 will join the corporate in FY23.
The company plans to take care of a 50:50 ratio.
Currently, approximately 35% of Wipro employees are women.
