BP is dumping its US$14 billion stake in Rosneft

BP CEO Bernard Looney has resigned from Rosneft’s board of directors. The oil and gas supermajor announced on Sunday that its interest in the Russian state-owned oil and gas company is “no longer aligned with bp’s business and strategy”.

BP is pulling out of its Russian shareholdings in the midst of the attack of Ukraine, auctioning off US$14 billion worth of offers in Russian state-possessed endeavor Rosneft – a 19.75% interest that meets the meaning of what’s known as ‘critical impact’, where BP would normally have the ability to take part in Rosneft’s monetary and working strategy choices.
